“This is Brad and Richard. [Liberty Manor] picked Richard up roadside when he was homeless – keep in mind he is an honorably discharged VETERAN!  I could not believe it. Today, he is so appreciative that we took him in as family. Our issue here is that he can’t get into ANY of our 7 bathrooms. That’s why we [are] hoping for some construction services. We need one of the downstairs bathrooms to be widened.

Brad was dropped off by the VA and they told us he would not live long because he has Lou Gehrig’s disease. They gave Brad three months! He has been at Liberty Manor for four years!” - Liberty Manor

MISSION UPDATE: With your help, CHF has expanded its mission to help homeless veterans! We now work with Liberty Manor to provide a place to live for homeless veterans as well as provide them with the help they need to reclaim their their lives and dignity.

These are heroes that risked their life to serve our country and as a result, many returned home with injuries and PTSD, making them unable to support themselves. Please join us in giving back to these brave souls that served our country by helping them when they truly need it most.

Re-Creation is back on tour! Due to COVID-19 restrictions, they were unable to perform live in person for a while, but because of the generosity of our donors, we have been able to help them continue their mission to provide free entertainment to veterans across the country! The young performers of Re-Creation donate a year of their lives to perform over 300 shows a year to veterans in VA hospitals, state veteran homes and senior centers. They also help us to give out arts and craft kits after the show. Recently the government cut back on funding these shows so now we sponsor the only live entertainment given in a VA hospital.

Happy Memorial Day to America’s veterans! Celebrate this special day by joining our mission to brighten the days of elderly veterans stuck in medical centers by providing them with therapeutic craft kits and live entertainment. Click here to join our mission and bring a smile to a veteran’s face.

COVID-19 UPDATE - ADAPTING TO WHAT OUR VETERANS NEED

We have all been impacted by the spread of this horrible coronavirus. In these uncertain times, we want you to know that our mission continues and we need your support now more than ever.

Re-Creation, that fantastic volunteer group who’s mission we help to support, cannot currently perform at the medical centers where a lot of our veterans pass their days. Our government has decided to stop all visitors to these centers for the time being. We support their decisions because they are doing what they can to protect our veterans, but in doing so, many veterans lose the opportunity to see a wonderful show and smile. In response, Re-Creation has recorded their performances and these shows are available to medical centers on request.

In addition to craft kits, we are now sending DVD players and movies directly to as many medical centers as we can to help put smiles on the faces of these elderly veterans.

These American heroes stuck in medical facilities are already lonely and will now not be allowed to have any visitors so we need your help now more than ever to keep their spirits up and remind them that they are not forgotten.

CHF thanks you for your support of our mission and we hope that you and your loved ones remain safe during these difficult times.

Dale, a 96-year-old veteran of the US Army, expresses his thanks for the craft kit provided by the Coming Home Foundation. “Dale is one who likes to keep busy!” says Kristie, an administrator at the Senior Center where Dale lives. “He is always attending activities, concerts and craft hours.” Dale appreciates the resources the Coming Home Foundation provides. . . to him and his fellow residents free from CHF. Kristie relates, “These craft kits are vital in keeping the residents engaged and active. Dale is doing as well as he is at 96 because he participates, he moves, he lives. We are so grateful to CHF for the practical gifts.”

As our visit ended, Dale said, “Thank you for coming. My eyesight may not be what it once was, but I like doing crafts and seeing the shows. . . I want you to keep coming.

ABOUT US

Here at Coming Home Foundation we believe that everyone needs a day of happiness to remember, especially the American heroes that fought for our country and that are now lonely and stuck in medical centers. Our mission is to supply therapeutic arts and craft kits to these veterans.

The arts and craft kits that we distribute are physically therapeutic for hand to eye coordination, but more importantly, working on the kits lifts the spirits of these lonely American heroes. It gives them something to look forward to as well as a sense of accomplishment for completing a task. Perhaps most importantly, receiving a gift lifts their spirits and reminds them that they are not forgotten; especially for those that have outlived their friends and families.

By giving them arts and craft kits, we will not be helping them to pass time, but we will be helping them make time live.

To continue our mission, we need your help. We are receiving requests from medical facilities for a continuous supply of therapeutic arts and craft kits, but we do not have the money to meet the demand.
